The Superior Festival Symphony Orchestra brings together each summer talented instrumentalists from as far as South Africa for a working vacation of camping and a smorgasbord of chamber and orchestra recitals and concerts. Led by Steven Edwards, Chorus Director of the New Orleans Symphony and Music Director of the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans, nationally noted for his incisive and insightful readings of both standard repertory and contemporary works, the Festival Orchestra brings professional finish and nuance to its performances. Individually and in combination, these players display the highest level of musical ensemble. The orchestra also offers internships for advanced students in music performance; during Festival Week they rehearse, practice, and study under the direction of a professional mentor with whom they share a stand. This both augments the orchestra and offers an uncommon pre-professional experience.
The 2008 Superior Music Festival is not performing this year because of budget and grant restraints.
We are not affiliated with the Marquette Symphony.
